Das Leichte Haus
Utopie und Realität der Membranarchitektur.

Book—2014

Culture historian Walter Scheiffele tells the story of utopian architecture starting with Sigfried Ebeling’s 1926 essay “Der Raum als Membran”.

The book presents an impressive selection of archive material that is displayed chronologically to illustrate Scheiffele’s text. We decided not to mix the text with the archive images, but to instead show them separately so that they would not compete for attention. However, small black and white duplicates of the archive images are set directly into the text where they are relevant, referencing back to the archive through a number.
