Eggs three ways

Illustrated Short Story—2016

A personal project made during a Storytelling course at Aalto University in Helsinki. The idea was to both write and illustrate a story, as well as create a trailer for it. I chose to illustrate the dark humoured murder story with photographs of eggs representing the characters, placed in the different settings of the plot.

The layout is inspired by that of classic letter press printed novels, where image plates had to be printed separately and could not be liberally placed anywhere in the text. Instead of having chapter titles, I also kept the custom of a descriptive navigation that summarises the contents of each spread. The absurdity of the photographs paired with the serious layout makes for a humorous contrast that matches the tone of the story.

The trailer can be found at the end of this page.
